ALT 98.7 Daniel "Desus Nice" Baker and Joel "The Kid Mero" Martinez have taken their comedic stylings from Twitter to Complex, Viceland and Showtime. This weekend, the duo plans to enter new territory. Showtime has announced that the New York-based comedic duo will fly down to Miami, Florida and join the broadcast crew for the upcoming boxing exhibition between Logan Paul and Floyd Mayweather Jr. The duo will join a star-studded team that includes veteran announcer Mauro Ranallo, boxing analyst Al Bernstein, former champion Abner Mares and mixed martial artist Brendan Schaub.
As the Paul brothers have made their way in to the world of boxing, a number of figures in and around television, music and film have climbed into the announcer booth to offer color commentary. Snoop Dogg, Pete Davidson, Mario Lopez and several others have tried their hand at boxing commentary within the last year.
Shortly after spending a weekend in Miami, the two comedians will travel back to New York where they are set to continue the third season of their late-night show on Showtime. Thus far this season, the show has welcomed Whoopi Goldberg, Ludacris, Delroy Lindo, Miguel, Andra Day, Issa Rae and several other stars. Also, former Desus and Mero have helped propel the career of Ziwe Fumudoh, who has left her position as a writer on the show and gone on to launch her own comedy series on the network.
Floyd Mayweather-Logan Paul is set to take on place on June 6 at 8 p.m. on Showtime Pay-Per-View. Desus & Mero is set to return to television on June 20.
