Rapper Tee Grizzley is returning to his native Detroit for a performance and the launch of his very own cannabis line.
The Detroit Free Press reported that the “First Day Out” rapper will perform for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic at the Aretha Franklin Amphitheater and promote the upcoming release of his cannabis line called Grizzley Gas.
The product line includes four strands: The Original Grizzley Gas, Marshmallow OG, Jet Fuel Gelato, and East Side OG, and will be available Saturday (August 14) at one Levels Cannabis store location.
He told the news outlet his purpose for creating Grizzley Gas is to create a product based in Michigan.
“I know a lot of people outsource for their cannabis and go to other states,” he said. “I wanted to bring something that is from home, for home.”
Michigan legalized medical marijuana in 2008 and ten years later, in 2018, made recreational weed legal, too.
The rapper’s been working on Grizzley Gas since 2019 and had his hand in everything from flavor creation to the packaging and naming the strands.
“This has been in the works for a while just to make sure we do everything right. We didn’t just want to rush anything out there. We wanted to make sure everything made sense from the packaging to the flower,” Grizzley said.
“My expectation is to give people a great product … and hopefully make it their primary flower when they shop for it,” he said. “It will be the best in Michigan and that’s something I’m proud to say.”
The rapper also said cannabis fans can look out for edible products from his brand in about six months.
