Erykah Badu offered up an apology after attending and performing at Former President Barack Obama’s intimate 60th birthday bash.

The celebration, which took place on Martha’ Vineyard, had a star-studded guest list (and vegan menu) and reportedly included performances by Badu, H.E.R., and John Legend

Badu posted a video from inside the bash, showing the former commander-in-chief cutting a rug on the dance floor. The “Bag Lady” singer took to Twitter Thursday night (August 12) to apologize to the couple.

“Mr. And Mrs. Obama, Please forgive me 4 being the ‘terrible guest’ at such a sacred event for your family. I was so inconsiderate, Thank you for all your love,” she wrote. She even chastised herself, “What an example of ‘how NOT’ to be …. erica.”

Some Twitter users suspected the Obamas asked the neo-soul legend to take down the video and publicly apologize, but she cleared that right on up in a follow-up tweet.

“Naw sis. It’s just the right thing,” she replied.

As the Black Information Network previously reported, Obama’s 60th birthday became even more exclusive after its more than 400 guest list got cut amid the surge in the COVID-19 Delta variant. While some guests got uninvited, some who made the reduced list still chose not to go out of concern for the variant.
