Former President Barack Obama and “Born in the USA” singer, Bruce Springsteen, are releasing their new book, Renegades: Born in the USA, on October 26, Black Enterprise reported.
Similar to their podcast, Renegades, the book covers personal conversations between two American icons. Through their discussions, Obama and Springsteen explore their feelings on marriage, fatherhood, race relations, masculinity, and more. They also examine how their careers have shaped their views of America, and their ideas on how to heal the wounds of our past.
At the beginning of the book, Obama said throughout the years, what they’ve found is that the duo has a “shared sensibility.”
“About work, about family, and about America. In our own ways, Bruce and I have been on parallel journeys trying to understand this country that’s given us both so much. Trying to chronicle the stories of its people,” Obama said in the book. “Looking for a way to connect our own individual searches for meaning and truth and community with the larger story of America.”
In addition to their entertaining talks, the book will also include introductions from both authors, annotated speeches from Obama, handwritten songs lyrics from Springsteen, and exclusive photographs, and historical documents that help provide context for their discussions. For those who already love their podcast, the book also promises to provide exclusive Renegades content as well.
