The number of people arrested for storming the U.S. Capitol on January 6 continues to grow. An Indiana resident by the name of Donna Sue Bissey has pleaded guilty to "parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building." As a result, Bissey must spend 14 days in jail, perform 60 hours of community service and pay $500 in restitution.
Reports from The Hill indicate that Bissey attended the "Stop The Seal" rally with her friend, Anna-Morgan Lloyd, and then spent "no more than 10 minutes" inside the Capitol building. Additional court documents indicate that law enforcement learned of her crimes after she posted multiple videos and photos on Facebook. One photo showed the women inside the Capitol with the caption, "Inside Capitol Building." Bissey also left a Facebook comment that referred to the riots as the "best f----- day ever."
“Best f------ day ever! I’ll never forget. We got into the Capitol Building," Bissey wrote.
Lloyd has also been sentenced to three years of probation, 40 hours of community service and $500 in restitution fees. Bissey's attorney argued that his client should receive the same sentence, but the Associated Press reports the judge gave her a harsher sentence because she boasted about her actions online.
“It's one thing to believe in conspiracy theories in your basement. It's another thing to act out on them," Justice Department prosecutor Joshua Rothstein said.
Bissey is one of nearly 100 Capitol Hill rioters to plead guilty and one of nearly two dozen to be sentenced. Meanwhile, another 70 people have been jailed while awaiting trial.
