Former NBA player Delonte West was arrested in Florida following an allegedly drunken police-involved incident.
According to TMZ, West was booked into the Palm Beach County jail on Tuesday night (October 19) and released early Wednesday (October 20).
Police records obtained by the outlet indicate the 38-year-old former NBA guard was stopped by the cops after he was yelling and banging on the doors of a police station in Boynton Beach. The report says West was holding open bottles of beer and vodka while yelling cuss words.
West attempted to leave the scene but was stopped by officers who ordered him to put the drinks down. Initially, the report says, West complied but then he got up and put his hands in his pants, which led to another officer to take out their taser.
West did respond to their verbal commands before eventually being handcuffed and placed under arrest. Officers said West "continued to be belligerent" in the back of the police car.
West now faces three charges: obstruction/resisting without violence, open container, and disorderly intoxication. He's expected in court for arraignment next month.
West has struggled with substance abuse in the past and made headlines last year after receiving support from Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban. He was the 2004 first-round draft pick and played eight seasons with the league.
