New details regarding the riots that took place on January 6, 2021 have emerged. A recent report from Rolling Stone accuses several federal lawmakers of participating in planning meetings for the "Stop The Seal" rally that preceded the riots on Capitol Hill. The list of federal lawmakers provided by a "rally organizer" and a "planner" include the following names: Marjorie Taylor Greene, Paul Gosar, Lauren Boebert, Mo Brooks, Andy Biggs, Madison Cawthorn and Louie Gohmert. Those involved with the "Stop The Seal" rally also report that former President Donald Trump's Chief of Staff Mark Meadows was "a regular figure in these really tiny groups of national organizers.”
“Meadows was 100 percent made aware of what was going on,” the "rally organizer" and "planner" told Rolling Stone.
The Rolling Stone report goes as far as to suggest that Rep. Paul Gosar spoke to Trump about offering a "blanket pardon" for "Stop The Seal" organizers. As far as they were concerned, two sources told Rolling Stone that it was a "done deal."
“Our impression was that it was a done deal," an unnamed source told Rolling Stone.
“That he’d spoken to the president about it in the Oval ... in a meeting about pardons and that our names came up. They were working on submitting the paperwork and getting members of the House Freedom Caucus to sign on as a show of support."
Meadows nor Gosar have addressed the story in a public setting. However, the office of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has issued a statement dismissing the allegations made against her and her colleagues.
“No one cares about Jan. 6 when gas prices are skyrocketing, grocery store shelves are empty, unemployment is skyrocketing, businesses are going bankrupt, our border is being invaded, children are forced to wear masks, vaccine mandates are getting workers fired, and 13 members of our military are murdered by the Taliban and Americans are left stranded in Afghanistan,” Greene's office told Rolling Stone.
Greene's office may not be able to dismiss these allegations with a simple statement. Both of the story's primary sources plan to testify in a public setting.
“I have no problem openly testifying,” one source said.
