Former college football standout Otis Anderson Jr., who also briefly played for the Los Angeles Rams, was reportedly shot and killed at his home in Jacksonville, Florida by his father.
According to Jacksonville's News 4, police arrived at the scene on Monday night (November 29) where they found a man and woman who had both been shot. The man, identified as Anderson Jr., died in the hospital after being shot in the chest and back while the woman, identified as the late football star's mother Denise, was released from the hospital on Tuesday (November 30) after being grazed by a bullet.
The primary suspect in the case is Anderson’s father, Otis Lee Anderson Sr. He was arrested around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning and charged with two counts of second-degree murder. A court hearing that was held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. Information revealed that Anderson Sr. was not eligible for bond. Descriptions for both charges read that he was charged for “Murder / Dangerous act evincing a depraved mind w/o premed,” meaning authorities do not believe that the murder was premeditated.
During his time at UCF, Anderson Jr. rushed for 2,182 yards, racked up 1,025 receiving yards, and scored 26 total touchdowns. Anderson Jf. briefly spent time on the Los Angeles Rams practice squad at the beginning of this season.
