The wife of entertainment industry titan Clarence Avant was shot and killed during a home invasion Tuesday night (November 30).
According to TMZ, Jacqueline Avant was fatally wounded after burglars invaded the couple's Beverly Hills area home. By the time police arrived, Jacqueline had reportedly already been rushed to a nearby hospital.
Police were called around 2:30 a.m. for a reported home invasion and the caller had told the 911 dispatcher that someone had been shot.
The couple had been married for 54 years. Their daughter, Nicole Avant is married to Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.
Jacqueline Avant was 81 years old.
Clarence Avant is considered the Godfather of Black Music and has had his hands on some of the biggest names in Black entertainment.
The 90-year-old music executive and North Carolina native was recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for a lifetime of innovation to the industry, which was the subject of a 2019 Netflix documentary.
