The Miami Dolphins fired head coach Brian Flores Monday (January 10) after three seasons with the team.

According to ESPN, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross praised the "excellent roster of young players" and said the firing has to do with a lack of collaboration and continuity within the organization.

"I've been looking at this over the last three years now and watching the organization grow," Ross said. "And I think an organization can only function if it's collaborative, and it works well together. And I don't think that we were really working well as an organization that it would take to really win consistently at the NFL level."

While Flores was coach, the Dolphins hired four different offensive coordinators, two defensive coordinators, and four offensive line coaches, among other staff turnover.

With Flores' exit, there's now only two Black head coach in the league, Pittsburgh Steelers' Mike Tomlin and David Culley of the Houston Texans despite the league being made up of over 70% of Black players.

According to ESPN, there were rumors that Ross, a University of Michigan alumnus, was courting the idea of bringing of Michigan's Jim Harbaugh.

Ross shot those rumors down, though and said the team is going to through a "thorough" process of finding its next head coach.

"I have no coach in mind at this point," Ross said. "We're going to do a thorough review and interview process ... I'm not going to be the person to take Jim Harbaugh from the University of Michigan. I hope he stays there. He's a great coach."
