Get it girl! Rapper Saweetie is making major moves, adding a history-making role to her resume in partnership with Champion. The Oakland native was named the athletic brand's first-ever Global Culture Consultant, Rolling Stone reported this week. And of course, the 28-year-old Icy Girl is already getting to work putting her title to good use.
In its new "Get it Girl" campaign, Champion is honoring 12 female college athletes and uses Saweetie's song by the same name to shine a light on the star student-athletes.
The company also inked two-year Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals with the athletes who will also become brand ambassadors, have access to mentorship and career opportunities with Champion executives.
"We're proud to name Saweetie as our first-ever Global Culture Consultant to help empower women to be their own Champion," Global Marketing VP John Shumate said in a statement. "Saweetie is an inspiration for self-expression and with her 'Get it Girl' anthem, we want to unite all women with Champion athletic wear solutions designed for every body, every shape, and every workout."
Saweetie says she decided to "Tap In" with the partnership given her love of athleisure fashion and as an athlete.
"My relationship with Champion runs deeps as an athlete and lover of streetwear," Saweetie said in a press release. "It's been a go-to brand since high school! This campaign and partnership hit me on a personal level and I couldn't be prouder to help all my sporty-icy girls out there feel empowered with love and self-confidence. When you feel good wearing Champion, the sky's the limit."
