Senate confirmation hearings for Supreme Court Justice nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson will begin today, Monday (March 21). Here's how to tune in with The Black Information Network.
The Black Information Network (BIN) will air live news coverage of next week’s confirmation hearings for Judge Brown Jackson. Live coverage of the hearings will begin at 11:00 a.m. EST.
The hearings will continue at 9:00 a.m. EST on Tuesday (March 22), Wednesday (March 23) and Thursday (March 24). BIN News Director Andrea Coleman will anchor our live coverage with special guest commentators and legal experts.
Judge Jackson made history in February, becoming the first Black woman to ever be nominated to sit on the nation's highest court. Her nomination to the bench comes after Justice Stephen Breyer announced his retirement in January, following nearly 30 years of service.
Judge Jackson grew up in Florida and is the daughter of public school teachers. Her father, Johnny Brown became a lawyer, which Jackson previously said directly influenced her path into the legal field.
She is a mother of two and most recently served as a federal judge on the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, considered the second-highest court in the nation.
During the confirmation hearings, Judge Jackson is expected to be questioned about her previous rulings, and her plans to possibly recuse herself from on of the Supreme Court's major cases later this year that involves her alma mater.
