Lowe's teamed up with HBCUs to host a party to rival all parties for the Academy Awards and they did all while celebrating musician and Oscar-winning documentary director, Questlove.
The Roots Jam Session Oscars Edition went down Saturday (March 26) and was "a spinoff of the highly sought-after Roots Grammy After Party experience," an official press release shared with the Black Information Network reads.
The party included a four-hour jam session with impromptu performances that show cased the talent and excellence of Black people and HBCU alumni.
"This partnership is the first phase of Lowe's commitment to HBCU apprenticeships in the entertainment industry, and it will shine a spotlight on HBCU alumni who excel in the film industry, in front of the camera and behind the scenes," a statement from the company reads.
"We are a proud sponsor of tonight's event," Sharonda L. Britton, Vice President of Consumer Marketing at Lowe's, said before the event, while shouting out fellow HBCU alumni including Oscars show producer, Will Packer.
The concert also included a debut commercial highlighting the store's everyday discount for military families.
