Tiger Woods is playing in the Masters!
On Tuesday (April 5), the 15-time major golf champion told reporters, "As of right now I feel like I am going to play," in the tournament. This will be his first tournament since his devastating car accident last year in which he suffered leg and back injuries.
Woods is confident in his game, though, telling reporters, "I don't have any qualms about what I can do."
The 46-year-old was spotted playing a few practice rounds in Augusta, sparking rumors that he might tee off this week. His playing partners seemed sure he would make his return, telling members of the media, "If he can walk around here in 72 holes, he'll contend. He's good." Now, he's confirmed it himself.
2021 FedEx Cup Champion Patrick Cantalay is excited to have Woods back on the greenway, stating that it's the "greatest thing" for golf.
"He's a good example of life's not always perfect, and so it's exciting to see him on his highs," Cantalay said.
The 2022 Masters Tournament kicks off Thursday (April 7) and go through April 10.
