High school basketball star Aaliyah Gayles was reportedly shot 10 times while leaving a Las Vegas house party over the weekend, her family says.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Gayles, 18, underwent two emergency surgeries Sunday (April 17) following the shooting and is reportedly conscious. The outlet reported the Spring Valley High School star athlete was shot at least eight times in her legs and ankles, and at least four other people were wounded by the gunfire.

Police are searching for suspects in the shooting and said the shooting erupted after some sort of argument took place.

Aaliyah's father, Dwight Gayles, posted to Twitter that his daughter went in for a third surgery Monday (April 18) and is expected to make a full recovery.

Gayles is ranked No. 8 in ESPN's 2022 Class and the high school recruit committed to the University of Southern California in August 2021.

The 5'9 point guard is also a McDonald's All-American athlete, and the first high school player from Las Vegas to make the team since 2010.
