Months after declaring he wanted to make an NFL comeback, Colin Kaepernick is reportedly headed to Vegas to work out with the Raiders.

According to ESPN, Kaepernick's workout with the Las Vegas Raiders will mark his first since being forced out of the league in 2016. It will also be the former quarterback's first team visit since the Seattle Seahawks in 2017 — at the time, the team ultimately declined to add Kaepernick to their roster.

Raiders owner Mark Davis previously said he would welcome the former 49er with "open arms" if team leadership obliged. Davis was the first from the league to publicly verbalize interest in Kaepernick, who was exiled after kneeling in protest during the national anthem.

The NFL has said that it encouraged teams to consider giving Kaepernick a spot on their rosters, ESPN reports. However, the QB hadn't received any takers until the Raiders workout, which an ESPN source says is planned for sometime this week.

The Raiders currently have no shortage of quarterbacks with Derrick Carr as a starter and backup Jarret Stidham acquired in a trade with the New England Patriots earlier this month. Quarterback Nick Mullens also signed with the Raiders this offseason.

Kaepernick, 34, recently worked out with undrafted receivers during Michigan's spring game hoping to catch the eyes of NFL scouts. The former NFL star said he'd be willing to play backup quarterback to get a spot back in the league.
