Former Purdue Star & NBA Player Caleb Swanigan Dead At 25

Former Purdue basketball star Caleb Swanigan has died at 25, ESPN reports.

According to the Allen County Coroner’s Office, Swanigan died of natural causes.

On Tuesday (June 21), the Purdue Men's Basketball program released a statement about his passing via Twitter.

"Devastated. Our thoughts and prayers to Caleb Swanigan’s family and friends. The world lost a gentle soul last night. Love you Biggie," the statement reads.

Swanigan began his basketball career as a highly sought-out high school recruit. Crowned Indiana's Mr. Basketball in 2015, he opted to stay in his home state and committed to Purdue.

While at Purdue, Swanigan was named Big Ten Player of the Year and first-team All American.

Following his sophomore season, the former Boilermaker was selected No. 26 overall in the first round of the 2017 NBA draft.

Swanigan played with the Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings during his three-year NBA career.

Off the court, Swanigan had launched a music career and released several rap songs under the name Slyy5jackk.

The former NBA player had recently put out a music video and had plans to unveil a new project soon, according to his Instagram.
