Black executives at Amazon are few and far between, and now two of them have decided to part ways with the company.
According to CNBC, Amazon is losing Black executives Alicia Boler-Davis, who was the head of warehouses and a member of the company's leadership team, and David Bozeman, head of transportation. Their departure follows Amazon recently announcing that the CEO of Worldwide Consumer Dave Clark had also chosen to leave the company.
Boler-Davis and Bozeman "have decided to explore new opportunities outside Amazon," according to an email obtained by CNBC.
On Tuesday (June 21), Amazon CEO Andy Jassy also announced that Amazon was revising the name of the consumer business to Amazon stores and bringing on John Felton to lead its operation group.
Reports say Boler-Davis was up for the operations lead position that was ultimately given to Felton.
Boler-Davis first joined Amazon in 2019 from General Motors. Despite being passed for the lead position, the email viewed by CNBC described her as "an impressive and impactful leader through an unprecedented time."
She is also the only Black member of Amazon's senior leadership team known as the “S-team."
In recent years, Amazon has made strides in diversity within its higher-up, but still, only 5.5 percent of its senior leaders are Black, company data reports.
