"Insecure" and "Beverly Hills, 90210" actress Denise Dowse has died, per Variety. She was 64.
On Saturday (August 13), Dowse's sister Tracey announced the news on the actress' Instagram account.
“It is with a very heavy heart that I inform everyone that my sister, Denise Dowse has gone forward to meet our family in eternal life," Tracey wrote. "Denise Yvonne Dowse was the most amazing sister, a consummate, illustrious actress, mentor, and director. She was my very best friend and final family member.”
The announcement came after her sister shared earlier this month that Dowse had fallen into a coma due to a "virulent form of meningitis."
“I am trying to keep my spirits up and support those who need it. As many of you know I am a private person. So this is hard for me. I am requesting support and prayers be offered me and my sister, and my only immediate family Denise Dowse,” Trace Dowse wrote August 5 on Facebook.
“Her doctors do not know when she will come out of the coma as it was not medically induced. She is a vibrant actor and director that should have many years ahead of her," she continued. "Thoughts, prayers and support are greatly appreciated."
Born on Feb. 21, 1958, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Dowse's screen roles date back to the 1980s.
She most recently played therapist, Dr. Rhonda Pines, in "Insecure." Dowse also had a recurring role as vice principal Yvonne Teasley in "Beverly Hills, 90210."
The longtime actress racked up a number of film credits for her roles in Bio-Dome, Starship Troopers, A Civil Action, Ray, Coach Carter, and The Call to name a few.
Dowse was also a regular guest star across a variety of television shows in the past three decades, appearing on “Seinfield,” “Full House,” “Murphy Brown,” “Touched by an Angel,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Chicago Hope,” “ER,” “The West Wing,” “House, “Castle,” and more.
She is survived by her sister Tracey.
Rest in peace, Denise Dowse.
