Wendy Williams has reportedly checked into rehab.
According to Page Six, the 58-year-old former talk show host is seeking treatment for substance abuse issues "amid her fallout with production company Debmar-Mercury."
“It’s gotten worse,” a source told the outlet. “She went from wine to straight-up vodka.”
An insider added, Williams’ health and addiction issues worsened after Debmar-Mercury allegedly “refused” to get her help. “They turned their backs on her,” the source shared. “They had too much control over someone so vulnerable.”
Williams' podcast, The Wendy Experience Podcast, also released a statement about Wendy's health, saying she has entered a wellness facility, seeking help as she hopes to manage her "overall health issues."
"She is taking some time to focus on her health and wellness as she prepares for a major comeback for the next level in her career with The Wendy Experience Podcast," a press release from the podcast states. "Ms. Williams is being treated by a team of some of the best doctors in the world. We ask for your prayers and well wishes during this time."
Williams has been open about struggling with substance abuse throughout her career. In 2019, she went on hiatus from her show for two months, claiming it was to treat her Graves’ disease. However, she later revealed that she was living in a halfway house to help maintain her sobriety.
“Only Kevin knows about this. Not my parents, nobody. Nobody knew because I look so glamorous out here,” Williams shared on her show in March 2019. “After I finish my appointments … I am driven by my 24-hour sober coach back to a home that I live in the tri-state [area] with a bunch of smelly boys who have become my family.”
