A TikTok user has gone viral after sharing her experience at a New Jersey restaurant where she claims she was seated in the "Black section" and away from white customers.
In a video that has garnered over 250,000 views, TikToker @banksudolly said she was directed to an area of a local restaurant with mostly Black people, despite requesting to be seated somewhere else.
The TikToker showed the inside of the restaurant that appeared to have white people dining on one side and a predominately Black crowd seated on the other.
“They directed us to the ‘Black section,’” text overlaying the woman's video reads.
The TikToker received mixed reactions to her video as users discussed whether the restaurant's seating arrangement was actually racially charged.
“Oh yeah no that’s WAY too many people so be a coincidence,” one TikTok user wrote.
“How is this okay? and why isn't this viral yet,” another said.
Other users didn't believe discrimination was involved and theorized that the "Black section" might have just been a private party.
“It kinda looks like the party section and a party is happening,” a TikToker commented.
“No disrespect but that clearly is a private party, looks like they have a cake with candles at the back….,” another agreed.
“So, it looks like there’s a large party. Also, there are white people in the ‘Black section,’” a third user said.
According to the Daily Dot, the restaurant hasn't responded to their request for comment.
