Former NBA player Ben Gordon has been arrested for allegedly hitting his 10-year-old son at LaGuardia airport in New York, the New York Post reports.
On Monday (October 10), Gordon, who once played for the Chicago Bulls, was barred from getting on his flight to Chicago by Port Authority cops who detained him over the alleged abuse of his son. Gordon's son was taken to Long Island Jewish Children's Hospital for evaluation, according to the Post.
Charges against the former NBA player are pending. He was processed at the Port Authority police station. Police said two Port Authority officers sustained minor injuries from the arrest, though it’s not immediately clear how or where they were injured, per the Post.
During his 11-year career in the league, Gordon played for the Detroit Pistons, Charlotte Bobcats, Orlando Magic, and Bulls. He won the Sixth Man of the Year award during his rookie season. Gordon has had several run-ins with the law prior to Monday's arrest, including in 2017 when he was arrested for alleged assault and robbery.
