A former NFL player is catching heat after his organization brought in a "stripper" for an event hosted at a Michigan high school, Fox 2 reports.
Quentin Hines, a former running back for the New England Patriots and owner of the Rivals Professional Football League, said his minor league football organization's recruiting service was putting on an event on Saturday (October 15) at Mount Clemens High School when a woman with little clothing was seen twerking on a man.
"I don't think she was a stripper. She was one of her dancers that was underdressed, and it's unfortunate," Hines said in response to backlash from the event. "I did not know that someone would come that underdressed to dance with him."
Rivals Football hosted Peezy's Sweetie's Day Bash at the Detroit-area school, though the event was originally set to occur at Wisner Memorial Stadium in Pontiac, according to the flyer.
Video of the event posted to Facebook shows a shirtless man rapping as the "stripper" twerks on top of the school's Battling Bathers logo in the gym.
Superintendent Monique Beels said the district had no issues with the organization renting its facilities in the past, but officials are "disgusted" by the recent event.
"There have been no prior issues of inappropriateness when this organization rented from our district in the past. There was no reason to believe the activities that took place at the event on October 15, 2022, would take place in our gym," Beels said. "The Mount Clemens Community Schools' Board of Education and Administration are deeply shocked, disappointed, and disgusted by the inappropriate events that took place."
Though there were no students present at the event, Hines' organization has been banned from using any of the district's facilities in the future.
"Our facilities were rented to Rivals Recruiting Worldwide in good faith and trust was broken. This type of behavior is not tolerated in our district," Beels said. "This is not who we are. This is not what we value."
The former NFL player apologized for the incident, saying “we are very sorry, but we are still going to be a platform for up-and-coming artists.”
The school district said the Macomb County Sheriff's Office has launched an investigation into the event, per its Facebook page.
