The Golden Globes are back, and a number of Black entertainers have earned nods.
On Monday (December 11), the nominees were announced for the 2023 Golden Globes, which is set to air live from the Beverly Hilton on Tuesday, Jan. 10 on NBC and Peacock.
The upcoming 80th annual Golden Globes comes after the network declined to televise the 79th edition of the awards show amid an entertainment industry boycott sparked by a Los Angeles Times report that revealed a lack of Black members in The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which presents the Golden Globes.
“This is really not the old HFPA anymore,” the organization’s president Helen Hoehne told The Hollywood Reporter. “Over the past 18 months — almost two years now — we took a deep look inward and listened to the criticism. … And we built a new infrastructure that transformed our organization and the awards show into something that is more diverse, transparent, and responsive.”
Comedian Jerrod Carmichael has been tapped to host the upcoming awards. Keep scrolling for a complete list of the Black nominees up for a 2023 Golden Globe.
