‘General Hospital’ Star Sonya Eddy Dead At 55

Sonya Eddy, a longtime star on ABC's General Hospital, has died, according to Page Six. She was 55.

On Tuesday (December 20), fellow actress Octavia Spencer announced on Instagram that Eddy died last night.

"My friend @sonyaeddy passed away last night," Spencer captioned a photo of the daytime television star. "The world lost another creative angel. Her legions of @generalhospitalabc fans will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones, friends, and fans!"

Spencer did not detail the circumstances of Eddy's death.

Eddy began her run on General Hospital in 2006, portraying head nurse Epiphany Johnson. She has also appeared on other television shows and films including Seinfeld, Reba, Joan of Arcadia, CSI, Glee, Castle, and more.

Celebrities and fans alike are mourning the loss of the 55-year-old actress.

"@TheRealSonyaEd was my friend & I am heartbroken by this news," actress Yvette Nicole Brown tweeted on Tuesday.

"I’m going to miss Sonya Eddy so much. She brought so much warmth, charm, and her effusive personality to nurse Epiphany Johnson. This hurts," another social media user wrote.
