People across the globe are mourning the loss of music icon Tina Turner.

On Wednesday (May 24), a spokesperson for Turner announced that the 83-year-old Queen of Rock N' Roll had died at her home near Zurich in Switzerland after a long illness.

Beyoncé remembered Turner as her “beloved queen” in a heartfelt tribute posted to her website, per People.

“My beloved queen, I love you endlessly,” Beyoncé penned. “I’m so grateful for your inspiration, and all the ways you have paved the way.”

“You are strength and resilience," she continued. "You are the epitome of power and passion. We are all so fortunate to have witnessed your kindness and beautiful spirit that will forever remain. Thank you for all you have done.”

The tribute included a photo of two music stars holding hands and bowing at the 2008 Grammy Awards, where they performed Turner's hit song "Proud Mary."

Former President Barack Obama joined in sharing his condolences, praising Turner as a "star whose light will never fade."

"Tina Turner was raw. She was powerful. She was unstoppable. And she was unapologetically herself—speaking and singing her truth through joy and pain; triumph and tragedy. Today we join fans around the world in honoring the Queen of Rock and Roll, and a star whose light will never fade," Obama tweeted.

Oprah also shared a touching tribute in memory of Turner, one of her dear friends.

"I started out as a fan of Tina Turner, then a full-on groupie, following her from show to show around the country, and then, eventually, we became real friends," Oprah wrote on Instagram alongside a series of photos of her and Turner. "She is our forever goddess of rock 'n' roll who contained a magnitude of inner strength that grew throughout her life."

She went on to say Turner was "a role model not only for me but for the world" who "encouraged a part of me I didn't know existed."

A myriad of other celebrities including Mariah Carey, Angela Bassett, and Diana Ross also shared social media posts in remembrance of the musician.

"How do we say farewell to a woman who owned her pain and trauma and used it as a means to help change the world?" Bassett, who portrayed Turner in the 1993 biopic What’s Love Got to Do With It, began her tribute. "Through her courage in telling her story, her commitment to stay the course in her life, no matter the sacrifice, and her determination to carve out a space in rock and roll for herself and for others who look like her, Tina Turner showed others who lived in fear what a beautiful future filled with love, compassion, and freedom should look like."
