Rumors of Tyler Perry officially acquiring BET and VH1 have been swirling on social media after a now-deleted article reported that his purchase had been finalized, FOX5 reports.
On Monday (June 12), congratulations began pouring in for Perry following reports that he won the bidding war for the networks against other alleged contenders including the likes of 50 Cent, Shaquille O'Neal, Byron Allen, Kenya Barris, and Sean "Diddy" Combs.
Keke Palmer, who got her start in the industry as a child actor in Perry's Madea's Family Reunion, even posted a video on Instagram congratulating him on the alleged purchase.
"[Tyler Perry] I watched you up and close and personal since I was 11 years old," she said. "What's left to be said? CONGRATS Virgo Father [I love you]!!"
However, Viacom, BET Networks, Paramount Global, and Perry haven't made any announcements confirming the news. With VH1 now under BET Media group, Perry would make history as the first Black man to buy two major television networks.
