Tina Knowles Addresses Rumors About Beyoncé Cutting Lizzo From Concert

Beyoncé's mother is setting the record straight on speculation about why the singer omitted her usual Lizzo shoutout from her concert earlier this week.

During her performance of "Break My Soul (Queen's Remix)" at Foxborough's Gillette Stadium, Bey appeared to skip over Lizzo's name amid a lawsuit against the "Special" singer alleging sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. Videos posted on social media showed Bey declining to say Lizzo's name at the concert even as it flashed on the screen behind her.

In replacement, Beyoncé said "Badu" four times in a row, seemingly a nod to Erykah Badu.

The Lizzo omission sent social media into a frenzy as Bey has previously used the "Break My Soul" remix to honor her, Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill, Nicki Minaj, her sister, Kelly Rowland, and other Black women in the industry.

On Thursday (August 3), Tina Knowles addressed rumors that her daughter had caught wind of Lizzo's lawsuit and purposely cut her from the performance, per TODAY.

"She also didn’t say her own sister's name," Knowles wrote on social media under a clip of the performance. "Yal should really stop."

Fan speculation stemmed from a lawsuit filed earlier this week by three of Lizzo's former dancers who are accusing the singer of weight-shaming and pressuring one of them to touch a nude performer at an Amsterdam strip club.

Lizzo denied the allegations in a statement on Thursday.

“My work ethic, morals, and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized. Usually I choose not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed,” she wrote on social media. “I am not here to be looked at as a victim, but I also know that I am not the villain that people and the media have portrayed me to be the last few days."
