Texas Longhorn football players were seemingly subjected to racist comments and anti-LGBTQ slurs as the team pulled off a big win against Alabama.
On Saturday (September 9), Texas football upset the Crimson Tide 34-24 at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
In a video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Texas defensive backs X'Avion Brice, Jelani McDonald, and B.J Allen Jr., all of whom are Black, appeared to be dancing and posing as the team wrapped up their victory against Bama when a fan seemingly hurled the discriminatory remarks.
F---ingg f----ts," the fan repeatedly said, adding "Go back to the projects."
Texas running back Quintrevion Wisner also appeared to hear the taunts from the stands. Wisner's mother addressed the video on X.
"The fact my son down there and they saying go back to the projects really just saddens my heart that as his mother no matter how old he had to listen to that!" she wrote. "Love you son! But the parents went through this all night! Beer cans thrown at us, water bottles, spit! Disgrace."
In a statement to Fox News, Alabama officials condemned the video.
"We are disgusted by reports of vile language and inappropriate behavior Saturday night," the university said. "To be clear, we condemn this behavior and it will not be tolerated in our venues. It is not representative of UA or our values. We expect all attendees to act with class and respect towards others.
"Fans are strongly encouraged to report issues to our security resources on-site," the statement continued. "Gameday and delayed reports are appropriately addressed and anyone found to be in violation of our rules and expectations will be promptly removed and may be banned from future events."
