Morgan State University officials have decided to build a wall around the campus following a mass shooting that left five people injured during homecoming week.

The wall will encircle 90 percent of the HBCU campus and “eliminate unfettered access," university President David Wilson said during a campus town hall earlier this week, per the Associated Press.

“We’re doing this, let me be clear, not to keep out our neighbors and our community writ large; we are doing it to keep out the bad actors,” Wilson added.

The building of the wall will come after gunfire erupted outside of a homecoming event on October 3. Four students and one other individual ranging from ages 18 to 22 were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been in connection to the shooting. Police released surveillance footage of possible suspects, asking the public to help identify them.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said the shooting appears to have stemmed from "a dispute between two smaller groups, and one individual was a target of two individuals who had weapons."

In addition to the wall, university officials said other potential upgrades to security include installing more metal detectors on campus, exploring weapons detection technology, increasing police patrols, and building more security guard booths.

Wilson also pledged to reschedule the homecoming ball that was derailed by gunfire.
