The Clayton County Board of Commissioners in Georgia has appointed a new vice chair after video showed the former passed out near a bar, Fox 5 reports.
In the video, Felicia Franklin, the now-former District 3 Commissioner of the Clayton County Board of Commissioners, can be seen outside of a sports bar passed out on the ground. Franklin previously alleged that she was drugged at the sports bar, but Morrow police said they found no evidence to support her claim.
According to police, a toxicology report determined Franklin had several alcoholic drinks and cannabis in her system.
In the wake of the incident, the Clayton County Board of Commissioners voted to remove Franklin from her post as vice chair. The board appointed DeMont Davis to serve as her replacement.
Board Chairman Jeff Turner defended the decision to remove Franklin.
"The video spoke for itself. What more can we say?" Turner said in a statement. "We represent the citizens of Clayton County, and we have to make sure we present ourselves in a way that our citizens are going to be proud of us."
Davis said he would win back the trust of the county.
"When things are caught on camera like that, we’ve got to begin to address it," Davis said in a statement. "I think there had to be a change to regain some of this confidence."
Franklin said her removal was unlawful and noted that she would run for the seat of chairwoman of the board.
