A Florida woman's remains were found in a landfill in South Carolina over 12 years after she went missing, NBC Miami reports.
Adriana Laster was last seen in September 2011 in Elgin, South Carolina, where she moved with Freddie Grant.
The Richland County Coroner and Sheriff announced last week that her remains were found in a landfill earlier this month.
"I don't know, hurt is not even the word, it just feels like you're suffocating,” Laster's sister, Merveille Williams, said. "It was always my sister is somewhere living her life just being free."
Leon Lott, the Richland County sheriff, said he believes that Grant is behind Laster's death. Before her death, Laster reported several instances of abuse.
Grant is currently serving a 30-year sentence for the kidnapping and murder of 15-year-old Gabrielle Swainson.
"I called Freddie Grant a monster back then, I'll stand here today and continue to call him a monster because that's exactly what he was,” Lott said.
The Richland County Sheriff said Elgin Police have obtained warrants to charge Grant with Laster's murder.
Laster's family created a GoFundMe to raise funds for a burial.
