A man has been arrested in connection to the killing of a nurse whose body was found in a car in a Boston airport parking garage.
On Monday (January 29), Kenyan authorities arrested Kevin Kangethe, who is accused of killing 31-year-old nurse Margaret “Maggie” Mbitu before flying from Boston to Kenya, per CNN.
The arrest came after the body of Mbitu, who investigators say had a relationship with Kangethe, was found in a garage at Boston Logan International Airport on November 1, two days after she went missing.
Shortly after Mbitu's killing, an arrest warrant was issued for Kangethe, but he had already fled to Kenya before investigators determined he was a suspect.
Kangethe is currently being held in Nairobi, where he awaits extradition to Boston.
Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden applauded the US State Department, FBI, state police, and Kenyan authorities for facilitating Kangethe's arrest.
“Their tremendous and untiring efforts will provide Margaret’s family and friends the opportunity to see Kevin Kangethe face justice for this terrible crime,” Hayden said in a statement.
