New York City Mayor Eric Adams is facing a new lawsuit alleging sexual assault and battery.

On Monday (March 18), a lawsuit was filed against Adams accusing the former New York police officer of demanding sexual favors in 1993 in exchange for helping a woman receive a promotion in the department, per The Hill.

The lawsuit states that the alleged victim sought help from Adams, who was an influential member of the Fraternal Guardians Association. The woman said she was repeatedly passed over for promotions despite her job performance.

According to the suit, Adams demanded oral sex while giving the woman a ride home from work. Adams allegedly masturbated in front of the woman after she declined his advances.

“Adams preyed on her perceived vulnerability, demanding a quid pro quo sexual favor,” the suit states, “revealing himself not to be the ‘Guardian’ he purported to be, but a predator.”

The lawsuit comes after a summons was filed in November through the Adult Survivors Act, a state law allowing sexual assault victims to pursue civil suits past the traditional statutes of limitations.

In November, Adams denied the allegations, saying the incident “absolutely did not happen.”

“I don’t recall ever meeting this person, and I would never harm anyone in that magnitude,” Adams said. “It did not happen, and that is not who I am and that is not who I’ve ever been in my professional life and, you know, it’s just something that never took place.”

New York City counsel Sylvia O. Hinds-Radix said the suit was “ludicrous.”

“While we review the complaint, the mayor fully denies these outrageous allegations and the events described here,” Hinds-Radix said in a statement. “We expect full vindication in court.”
