Ashanti has officially confirmed she's expecting.
On Wednesday (April 17), Ashanti shared a video on Instagram announcing that she was pregnant with her and Nelly's first child together.
In the video, Ashanti appears to be preparing for a performance when one of her handlers and her mom, Tina Douglass, asks how much more time she needs to get ready.
"I'm gonna need about nine months," Ashanti responds as her mom's jaw drops in shock.
The pregnancy news comes after Ashanti and Nelly rekindled their romance in 2023. The couple reportedly split in 2013 after being on-again, off-again for roughly a decade. Fans speculated that the two were back together last year after they were spotted getting cozy while singing Usher's hit "Nice and Slow" in a video that circulated online.
In September 2023, Nelly confirmed their romance during an interview with Love and Hip Hop stars Rasheeda and Kirk Frost. The pair sparked baby rumors in December after Nelly was seen placing his hand on Ashanti's stomach during his 11th Black and White Ball.
The child will be Ashanti's first and Nelly's third. The rapper has two kids, Chanelle, 29, and Cornell Haynes III, 24, from a previous relationship, and he adopted his sister's children, Shawn and Sydney Thomas, after she died from leukemia in 2005.
