A Florida man is facing a felony charge after he was accused of abusing his girlfriend's 5-year-old son over a popular children's cartoon. According to WPLG, 36-year-old Keyyun Bryant, of Miami, was taken into custody earlier this month on an arrest warrant.
Police said the incident unfolded on December 26, 2022, at a home in Miami's Liberty City neighborhood. A witness told officers Bryant entered a room while she and the victim were watching PAW Patrol.
Bryant allegedly "grabbed the victim by the arm, neck, and hit him in the back of the head because the victim was in the ‘girls room,’" an arrest report reads. The witness claimed the suspect told the child the show was "for girls" after grabbing his arm.
The boy underwent a forensic interview with the University of Miami Child Protection Team. According to authorities, the victim alleged Bryant grabbed his right arm, scratched him, and “wrapped both his hands around his neck and told him he was going to take him to jail."
When Miami police detectives located Bryant earlier this month, the 36-year-old denied hurting his girlfriend's son. Bryant also claimed the victim's biological father previously made false allegations against him.
Bryant was booked into jail on one count of felony child abuse.
