Mary J. Blige, Kool & The Gang To Be Inducted In Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

Several Black artists are being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year.

On Sunday (April 21), Ryan Seacrest and previous Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Lionel Richie announced the 2024 class during American Idol, per the Hollywood Reporter.

2024 inductees include Mary J. Blige, A Tribe Called Quest, and Kool & the Gang. Cher, Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Matthews, Foreigner, and Peter Frampton are also being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year.

The music icons will officially enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during the 39th annual ceremony, which is scheduled to be held on October 19 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dionne Warwick will also be honored with the Music Excellence Award at the previous event alongside Jimmy Buffett, Norman Whitfield, and MC5. Big Mama Thornton, Alexis Korner, and John Mayall are also set to receive the Musical Influence Award while Suzanne de Passe will earn the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

Mariah Carey and Lenny Kravitz were among the fifteen acts that were nominated for the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame but didn't make the cut. This year's ceremony will stream live on Disney+.
