A Michigan man has been charged after he allegedly pointed a gun at a Black father and his four-year-old son who were working in a yard at a neighboring home.
On Saturday (April 27), Breyon Woods and his young child were performing yard work at a nearby home in Dearborn Heights when police said Mark Denis Gryzbowski pulled a rifle on the father-son duo, per Click On Detroit.
“As I’m showing my son how to use the blower, like we’re coming from the backyard into the front, and I just look to the left, he got the rifle pointed right at me and my son,” Woods said. “He said last year we left stuff on his driveway, and this year, we’re not going to do it.”
Following the incident, Gryzbowski, 63, barricaded himself in his home. A four-hour standoff ensued involving multiple agencies before Gryzbowski exited his home and was arrested, according to police.
Gryzbowski was charged with assault on Monday (April 29) in the 20th district court. He was given a $50,000 cash bond with a GPS tether.
A probable cause conference is set for May 8. Gryzbowski's preliminary exam is scheduled for May 15.
