Social media is buzzing after former President Donald Trump was found guilty in his New York hush money trial.
On Thursday (May 30), 12 New Yorkers tapped to sit on the jury unanimously found Trump guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels amid the 2016 election.
During roughly six weeks of trial, prosecutors argued that Trump schemed “to corrupt the 2016 presidential election” by illegally covering up payments through the falsification of business documents. Defense lawyers argued Trump's innocence, saying that the former president wasn't involved with any of the business records he was accused of falsifying beyond signing checks.
The jury took two days to deliberate before reaching their decision. A felony conviction for a former president is unprecedented.
