WNBA rookie Angel Reese and her Chicago Sky teammates say they were harassed by a man at their hotel in Washington D.C.
The incident unfolded on Wednesday (June 5) night amid ongoing debate about the flagrant foul committed by Sky player Chennedy Carter against college basketball star turned Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, a man "specifically was targeting guard Chennedy Carter" during Wednesday's incident.
Sky players including Reese, Isabelle Harrison, and Michaela Onyenwere, spoke out about the harassment on X, formerly Twitter.
"Finding out our team's hotel to pull with a camera as we get off the bus and put it in my teammate's face & HARASS her is NASTY WORK. this really is outta control and needs to STOP," Reese tweeted.
"WOW!!! Thank GOD for security. My teammate being harassed at our hotel is insane! Couldn’t even step off the bus!!!" Harrison wrote.
"Getting harassed at our hotel is where the line needs to be drawn. Some “fans” have NO CHILLLLL 🤮," Onyenwere said.
In a statement, Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca said police didn't get involved in the incident.
"It was over as fast as it started," Pagliocca said. "I'm very confident in our security always making our players feel safe. Today was a great example of how critical they are to our team."
In a series of tweets, Sky player Brianna Turner said she wasn't present for the incident but has faced unacceptable racism since there's been more eyes on the WNBA.
