Celebrities, athletes, and politicians are reacting to the Boston Celtics becoming this season's NBA champions.

On Monday (June 17), the Celtics clinched the NBA title with a 106-88 win against the Dallas Mavericks in game 5 of the Finals.

The Celtics also became the winningest franchise in NBA history, earning their 18th championship.

The team was led by head coach Joe Mazzulla and star players Jayson Tatum, who put on a 31-point, 11-assist, and 8-rebound performance, and Jaylen Brown, who averaged 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.6 steals during the Finals and was named its Most Valuable Player.

Celtics' Payton Pritchard also made a large impact going into the second half of the game, swishing a buzzer-beating 3-pointer. The 49-foot shot marked the longest made in the Finals in the past 25 years.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, a known Mavericks fan, quipped that he hated Pritchard for making the historic shot.

"Bro i hate this dude," Mahomes tweeted.

Lakers icon Magic Johnson spoke for his franchise's fans as their longtime rival clinched the NBA championship.

"I hate that the Celtics officially have more championships than us now," he tweeted.

Johnson also congratulated the Celtics for their success.

Former President Barack Obama joined the conversation, applauding Boston for their "well-deserved" win.
