A Maryland man is facing charges after he allegedly killed his neighbor, a rising boxing star.

According to CBS News, 36-year-old Nicholas Francis Xavier Giroux was charged with first-and-second-degree murder in connection to the death of his neighbor, Isaiah Olugbemi, in Odenton, Maryland earlier this month.

Surveillance footage showed a white male, who was later identified as Giroux, approaching Olugbemi, shooting him, and fleeing the scene on foot.

Olugbemi was found with gunshot wounds and taken to the hospital where he died.

According to police, Giroux confessed to the murder during questioning.

The victim's brother, Abraham Olugbemi, said Giroux had threatened Isaiah with a gun at least two other times this year.

A prosecutor described the shooting as an "execution," citing that Giroux shot Olugbemi six to 14 times before pausing and firing at least three more times.

The judge decided earlier this month that Giroux would be held without bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 17.
