An off-duty police detective in New Jersey appeared to confront a Black woman for parking on a public street near her home and making TikToks in her car.

TikTok user @baddiebk_ _ shared footage on social media of her interaction with the officer, who repeatedly questioned her from his vehicle about who she was and why she was parked on a public street.

The woman accused the officer, of being "hostile," saying “You just rolled up on me for no reason.”

“I’m asking you a simple question. What are you doing out here?” the detective said.

“I’m sitting in my car," the woman responded.

The police officer appeared to suggest that the woman was doing something illegal as she was sitting in her car watching TikToks. He admitted to watching her before and claimed she was parked in the same spot for the second day in a row.

“Right, but this is the second day, same spot for over four hours, you’re sitting in the same spot,” the detective said. “I live in the area, I want to know what’s going on?”

“OK, I’m sitting in my car,” the woman repeated.

The officer continued to question the woman, asking exactly where she lived.

“Yeah I do live in the area, so what’s the problem?” the woman said.

The officer kept pressing the woman for no apparent reason, even after she told him that she felt "uncomfortable" with his line of questioning. He eventually stopped harassing the woman as she refused to answer his questions.

“Have a good day, OK? Enjoy yourself," the officer said as he drove off.

Social media users identified the man as Detective Christopher Keller of the Elizabeth Police Department. Watch video of the incident.
