The Democratic National Convention has officially concluded but several stand-out moments still have the nation buzzing.
On Thursday (August 22), Vice President Kamala Harris capped off the fourth and final night of the DNC in Chicago with a speech centered around patriotism and unity.
Harris warned Americans of the dangers of reelecting former President and Republican nominee Donald Trump for a second term.
“In many ways, Donald Trump is an unserious man,” Harris said Thursday. “But the consequences of putting Donald Trump back in the White House are extremely serious.”
The vice president also formally accepted the Democratic nomination for president.

Michelle Obama’s Mic Drop Moment

During her speech, Michelle Obama shot back at Trump's claim that migrants are stealing “Black jobs.”
“Who’s going to tell him that the job he’s currently seeking might just be one of those Black jobs,” Obama said on night two of the convention.
Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Standing Ovation

Rev. Jesse Jackson, a prominent civil rights leader and former presidential candidate in the 1980s, made a rare public appearance at the DNC on Monday (August 19).
Jackson, 82, didn't speak at the convention but appeared onstage in a wheelchair as other Democrats spoke on his legacy and gave him a standing ovation.

Former President Barack Obama followed up his wife's speech on Tuesday (August 20), taking aim at Trump's character and antics.
“Here is a 78-year-old billionaire who has not stopped whining about his problems since he rode down his golden escalator nine years ago. There’s the childish nicknames, the crazy conspiracy theories, this weird obsession with crowd sizes,” Obama said.

Kamala Harris Makes Surprise Appearance On Night 1

Harris made a surprise appearance on Monday before delivering her keynote address during the final night of the convention.
During her appearance, Harris took the stage in a tan suit and made brief remarks, thanking Biden for his service to the country.
“This is going to be a great week, and I want to kick us off by celebrating our incredible president, Joe Biden, who will be speaking later tonight,” she said. “Joe, thank you for your historic leadership, for your lifetime of service to our nation, and for all you will continue to do, we are forever grateful to you. Thank you, Joe!”

Tim Walz Accepts Vice Presidential Nomination

Tim Walz took the DNC stage on Wednesday (August 21) having never delivered a high-stakes speech in front of a national audience or even used a teleprompter. During his speech, Walz, a two-term governor and former congressman, leaned into his previous roles as a high school teacher and football coach.
The vice presidential nominee touched on policy issues including health care, abortion rights, and homeownership, emphasizing freedom.
“When we Democrats talk about freedom, we mean the freedom to make a better life for yourself and the people you love. Freedom to make your own health care decisions. And yeah, your kids’ freedom to go to school without worrying about being shot dead in the hall,” Walz said.
“That’s what this is all about: The responsibility that we have to our kids, to each other and to the future we’re building together in which everyone is free to build the kind of life that they want.”

Harris formally accepted the Democratic nomination for president during a powerful speech to the nation at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
Harris dedicated the beginning of her speech to her late mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris, who the vice president said told her "Never complain about injustice, but do something about it."
"And she also taught us, never do anything half-assed," Harris said Thursday.
Beyoncé "Was Never Scheduled" To Perform

According to TMZ, Beyoncé was set to make a surprise appearance and performance on Thursday as Harris accepted the Democratic presidential nomination at the DNC in Chicago.
However, a representative for Beyoncé later said she would not be performing at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
“Beyoncé was never scheduled to be there,” a rep for the singer told The Hollywood Reporter. “The report of a performance is untrue.”
