A new poll shows Vice President Kamala Harris making up ground in swing states in her campaign for the presidency.
According to NPR, Harris has taken narrow leads in three critical states, which would put her at 270 electoral votes, the number needed to win the White House.
NPR based its polling on an average of surveys from FiveThirtyEight and The Hill/DDHQ. A state is deemed red or blue if a candidate has a lead of 1 percentage point or more. If the margin is lower than 1 point, the state is marked as a pure Toss-Up.
Harris has claimed the lead in the Blue Wall states of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania while Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump holds the lead in Georgia. The race has been marked a Toss-Up in Carolina, Nevada, and Arizona. Earlier this month, these three states were leaning GOP, according to polling.
As Harris holds the narrow lead, Democrats emphasized at their convention last week that the race is close and work needs to continue to be done for the vice president to secure the White House. Upcoming debates could also affect polling with early voting just weeks away.
