A murder suspect was taken into custody after he fell through a ceiling while attempting to hide from authorities, PEOPLE reports.

20-year-old Deario Wilkerson was captured by authorities following his alleged involvement in the April shooting death of Troy Cunningham, the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) said in a statement on Monday (August 26).

Photos shared by the USMS showed the ceiling where Wilkerson attempted to hide in the attic as authorities surrounded a residence in Memphis. The ceiling collapsed as Wilkerson fell through, leaving a hole in the property and chunks of debris on the kitchen floor.

Wilkerson "was not injured from the fall and was taken into custody with no further incident," the USMS said.

Wilkerson is among three people suspected to be involved in Cunningham's killing. According to the Shelby County District Attorney's Office, Cunningham was discovered on a sidewalk with a fatal gunshot wound to the back of his head on April 2 while he was trying to run away from the suspects.

"Additionally, during the incident, gunfire struck the vehicle of two female victims traveling westbound on Peres Avenue, resulting in one of the women sustaining a gunshot wound to the shoulder," the Shelby County District Attorney's Office said. The woman was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.

An arrest warrant for first-degree murder and reckless endangerment-deadly weapon was issued for Wilkerson's arrest on May 9. The case was adopted for a fugitive investigation by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) in Memphis.
