President Joe Biden is bringing brunch and Black excellence to the White House.

According to reports, Biden is set to host a "Brunch in Celebration of Black Excellence" on the South Lawn at the White House. The first-of-its-kind event is dedicated to the Black community's extensive contributions to American culture and history.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting the first-ever Celebration of Black Excellence at The White House. It is yet another example of the work President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have put in since Day One to honor the community through actions that have not just lowered the barriers to opportunity but promoted greater paths to excellence for Black Americans across the country," Stephen Benjamin, Biden’s Senior Advisor and Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, said in a statement.

"Due to the efforts of the Biden-Harris Administration, Black unemployment hit historic lows, Black net worth is up 60% since the pandemic, and Black entrepreneurs are establishing small businesses at rates not seen in 30 years,” Benjamin added.

The Black excellence brunch will be hosted during the Congressional Black Caucus’ Annual Legislative Conference, where the president is set to speak on Saturday (September 14). Black leaders in business, politics, and entertainment, including Monica, who is slated to perform, and actress Marsai Martin, who is set to speak, are expected to attend the White House brunch.

Biden has also tapped Trell Thomas, the founder and CEO of The Black Excellence Brunch, to help bring the event to life.

“The Black Excellence Brunch is my love letter to the community that molded me over the years I spent around my mom’s kitchen table in South Carolina. Those Sunday dinners shared with family, friends, church members, and neighbors left me inspired by all of the beautiful melanin in the room. It instilled in me a conviction to make space for everyone," Thomas explained in a statement.

"Though Friday’s guest list is a little bit bigger, I’m so thankful to be able to be doing this in collaboration with a White House and the President who has been consequential to Black excellence in all of its forms.”
