A landscaper said a white woman called the cops on him in the middle of an appointment after realizing she had hired someone Black.
In a viral TikTok video, the landscaper, who owns a lawn care business, shared his encounter with a white homeowner who he said contracted him for services.
“She didn’t want Black people to mow her yard, y’all,” the man said. “She didn’t know she was hiring Black people.”
The video appeared to show the homeowner on the phone with the police and a view of her lawn, which was partially cut.
“We’ve already started. Look how much we’ve cut already,” the landscaper said.
According to the landscaper, the woman hired him to mow her yard through a third-party company. The man said the homeowner called him a "boy" before refusing further services in her yard.
In the video, the woman took a photo of the man's license plate as they waited for the police to arrive.
“This is wild behavior. She didn’t know she was hiring Black people to cut her grass, so she threw a fit in front of my two sons out here,” the landscaper said.
In a follow-up video, the landscaper said a police officer who responded to the scene ended up apologizing to him.
“He actually asked for my business card and said he would be calling me for services,” the man said. “I didn’t deserve for her to treat me like that. There is no defending her. Wrong is wrong.”
