Questions surround the disappearance of a 13-year-old Black girl in Georgia, PEOPLE reports.
According to the Cobb County Sheriff's Office, 13-year-old Adrian Gary was last seen on November 17 at Grace's Place, a commercial sexual exploitation recovery center for youth between ages 12 and 17.
Authorities are asking for help in the search for Gary. According to the sheriff's office, Gary is 5'3 and weighs 143 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair and usually wears glasses, a nose piercing, and an upper gum piercing.
The 13-year-old was last seen wearing denim bell-bottom pants, a light pink shirt, black shoes, and a black coat, according to authorities.
The circumstances around Gary's disappearance remain unclear. As of Monday (November 25), Gary's family hasn't publicly spoken out about her disappearance.
The incident comes amid the Justice Department's efforts to address the disparity of missing or murdered Black women and girls. In 2022, over 36 percent of the 271,493 girls and women reported missing were Black. Black women and girls only account for 14 percent of the U.S. female population.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact Cobb County police investigator Jon Kramer at 770-499-4761 or at jon.kramer@cobbcounty.org.
