Martin Lawrence will be footing the bill for his daughter's upcoming wedding to Eddie Murphy's son.
On Thursday's (December 5) episode of iHeartRadio's "Big Boy's Neighborhood," Lawrence revealed that he will be paying for the nuptials of his daughter, Jasmin, and Murphy's son, Eric.
"Well, Eddie said I gotta pay for it," Lawrence said when asked about which comedian would be paying for the wedding. "He said I gotta pay for it, 'cause he paid for his last daughter's wedding — like the last six weddings — but he said it's my turn now."
Lawrence, a father of three daughters, noted he doesn't mind the tradition of the bride's family paying for the wedding.
Thursday's interview comes after Jasmin and Eric took to Instagram last week to announce their engagement.
The couple, who have been together for over three years, shared a video of Eric getting down on one knee to propose to Jasmin in a filled with candles and flowers.
“11.27.2024. We’re engaged!! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny. We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter ❤️❤️," Jasmin and Eric captioned their post.
“Special thank you to everyone who made this moment so beautiful!!” they added.
The pair reportedly became Instagram official in June 2021.
When asked about his son's relationship with Lawrence's daughter, Murphy joked about how funny their potential future child would be.
“We just was like, ‘It’s cool.’ Yeah, it was cool. We thought it was cool,” Murphy told "CBS Mornings" in July. “They’re both beautiful, they look amazing together — and it’s funny, everybody’s like, ‘What, that baby going to be funny?’ Our gene pool is going to make this funny baby.”
